Filinvest at 70: Stories of Trust, Growth, and Community

by Filinvest Development Corporation

In its 70th year, Filinvest Group continues to grow, not just as a company or as a business, but as a nurturing home and powerful enabler of people—individuals, families, and communities who have shaped and been shaped by its mission to enable the Filipino dream.

The growing legacy of Filinvest is molded by voices from across the country: an engineer who built a business on trust, a village board president who stewards sustainable living, and a resident whose neighborhood investment became a family legacy.

Their stories are different—but what unites them is how Filinvest helped bring their dreams to life, not just in career or business, but in purpose.\

Shaped from the Ground Up: Erwinda Canoy’s Story

Before she became a landscape contractor for some of the most iconic Filinvest projects in Visayas, Engr. Erwinda Canoy was a subdivision admin with a dream.

“As a Civil Engineer by profession, I started my journey in Filinvest as a subdivision admin sometime in 2005 to 2010. Four years later, I created Cebu Green Garden in May 2014 with One Oasis Cebu as my pioneer project, which is the first Oasis Filinvest developed property in Cebu,” she shared.

That first engagement opened the door to more. Erwinda’s company has since worked with Filinvest on multiple projects including Amalfi, San Remo Oasis, Citi de Mare, Il Corso Mall, and Seascape Resort Town, with additional engagements in Marina Spatial Dumaguete and Futura Homes Visayas.

“During my employment at Filinvest, I experienced significant professional growth. The knowledge and experience I gained were key in shaping my strength and decision-making abilities in my career,” she said.

Today, leading her own business in Cebu Green Garden, Erwinda continues to embody the values she saw in her earliest days with Filinvest.

“Filinvest’s commitment to diligence, integrity, and fostering lasting client relationships has been a major driver of my growth as an engineer,” she said. “These core values align closely with my own… and motivate me to give my best in all that I do.”

Home, Heritage, and Hands-On Leadership: Paolo Tapia’s Story

For Paolo Tapia, Vice President of the One Oasis Davao Board of Trustees, Filinvest has been more than just a developer—it has been a trusted partner in both personal growth and purposeful community leadership.

Paolo’s journey with Filinvest began in 2010, when he moved into One Oasis Davao. Located in the heart of the city, One Oasis Davao is a mid-rise condominium community that has been operational since 2009. It consists of six buildings and is known for being a smoke-free establishment with a commitment to green living.

By 2019, the property had been officially turned over to a full set of resident trustees, marking a new chapter in community-led development. Paolo was elected as one of the original trustees during this transition and has remained a key figure in leading and guiding the Condominium Corporation ever since.

With a background in English Literature and real estate, Paolo brings a strategic mindset and entrepreneurial drive to his role. He has played a central role in numerous enhancements within the property, to ensure sustainable living and environmental responsibility for the community.

But for Paolo, the value of One Oasis Davao goes beyond infrastructure. “I’ve been part of the Filinvest family for over a decade now,” he said. “What began as a personal investment has turned into something bigger—a legacy of trust, community, and progress. Filinvest didn’t just provide properties; it gave me peace of mind, a sense of belonging, and a platform to help shape a better future for our community.”

From resident to trustee, Paolo Tapia’s story exemplifies how Filinvest developments are more than physical spaces—they are communities built on trust, where leaders emerge and dreams take root.

Finding Peace in the Middle of the City: Paolo Cayton’s Story

When Paolo Cayton and his wife searched for a place to call home, they were looking for something that could offer calm amid the chaos—something close to the city, yet quiet enough to truly rest.

They found it at The Enclave at Alabang, a boutique village 5 minutes away from the garden city, Filinvest City.

Though Paolo’s work often takes him out to the provinces, coming home to a serene, and tight-knit neighborhood makes all the difference. “Work isn’t actually nearby — it’s out in the provinces most of the time,” he noted. “That’s why it matters even more that home feels like a true escape.”

An active soul by nature, Paolo has always found joy in movement. From swimming and golf to practical shooting, he lived a very active lifestyle in his younger years — until a basketball injury in college slowed him down. Now, his activities are centered around bonding with his family.

“Any activity is really a thing I can’t take out,” he smiled. “But now it’s more about food trips, vacations, being by the sea or up in the mountains. More than adrenaline, it’s the time with family that matters most.”

For Paolo, The Enclave Alabang isn’t just a house in a prime location — it’s a sanctuary that fits their lifestyle and values. And beyond the design and location, what stood out most was the care that came after turnover.

“What I like most about Filinvest is its values—the support that continues even after the village has been turned over,” he said. “When they say Filinvest family, you really feel that you are a part of that family.”

From key regions of the country, from landscape design to community uplift, these stories show that Filinvest’s legacy is more than infrastructure—it’s the quiet work of building lives, partnerships, and trust.
