FDCUI aims to provide electricity and water to potential growth areas in the Philippines and foster development in communities nationwide while enhancing collaboration among the subsidiaries of the Filinvest Group.

Its flagship project, the 405-MW FDC Misamis Circulating Fluidized Bed Thermal Power Plant located in PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, is one of the biggest thermal power plants in Northern Mindanao. The facility has significantly contributed to the stability of the Mindanao grid since its commercial operations in 2016, providing affordable and reliable power to various distribution utilities and industrial customers.

FDCUI is also in the retail electricity supply business through its subsidiary, FDC Retail Electricity Sales Corporation (FDC RES). Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in November 2009, FDC RES is committed to exploring viable supply options offering reliable, secure, and cost-effective power to Contestable Customers.

In 2018, FDCUI signed a joint venture agreement with ENGIE Services Philippines to establish the Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise, Inc. (FREE) to pursue solar energy projects. FREE’s flagship project is the 2.8MWp solar rooftop solution at Festival Supermall in Alabang, which started commercial operations in December 2021.

Another subsidiary, FDC Green Energy Corp., is constructing Filinvest’s first large-scale solar farm, located within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate, in the same complex as the thermal power plant, which will have a capacity of 20.75 MW. The facility is expected to generate approximately 30,450 megawatt-hours of clean energy annually.

Apart from solar energy, the company is also pursuing the development of the 33.40 MW Pampang Hydroelectric Power Project under FDC Renewables Corporation, which was awarded by the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) the Green Lane Certificate of Endorsement having been identified as a strategic investment that will substantially contribute to addressing the energy supply gap in Luzon.

FDCUI is also involved in sustainable water space through its subsidiary FDC Water Utilities, Inc. The company is into the general business of operation, management, maintenance, and rehabilitation of waterworks, sewage, and sanitation systems, including the distribution, supply, and sale of potable water.

FDCUI’s overall strategic goal is to achieve sustained growth by developing multiple power generation and water supply projects to contribute to the Philippines’ energy and water security.
